UNE SRI supports young people to engage with Justice Reform Initiative

UNE SMART Region Incubator supported the Rotary Club of Armidale, BackTrack Youth Works, and the New England community by sponsoring young people to attend the inaugural Rotary Club of Armidale's Annual Lecture, ‘Jailing is Failing’.

BackTrack Youth Works team members Norm and Zac shared their stories, and provided invaluable personal insights before Robert Tickner AO, Chair of the Justice Reform Initiative, introduced a large crowd to the objectives of the Justice Reform Initiative.

Following the keynote lecture, there was opportunity for Q&A alongside panel discussion with Robert Tickner, Founder of Backtrack Youthworks Bernie Shakeshaft, and Superintendent Steve Laska, NSW Police.

Young people from Guyra Central School, O'Connor Catholic College, TAS and NEGS Armidale attended the event.
