LEVERAGE 2023 Session Two

Leverage program participants reunited in August for an intensive two-day session in Tamworth.

For session two, the group focused on comprehensive financial management and the practical applications of the DISC personality profile as it relates to interpersonal relationships and entrepreneurship.

Financial management is crucial for any successful business. The first day of covered essential financial concepts, including profit and loss, cash flow, and balance sheets. Participants learned how to interpret financial statements to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. They also learned about optimising cash flow through budgeting, forecasting, and managing working capital.

Although often considered the least glamorous aspect of business ownership, the practical, step-by-step guidance broke down business financials into manageable and comprehensible components, making financials accessible and empowering for the participants.

The second day of the training focused on personal dynamics and self-awareness through the DISC personality profile assessment. The DISC assessment divides people into four primary personality types: Dominance (D), Influence (I), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C).

Dividing the group by their profile and asking them to come up with animals and songs that represented their DISC, helped the participants remember the key traits of each. In future, they’ll be able to apply this knowledge of both their own personality types and those of colleagues and clients to significantly improve workplace communication and collaboration.

After the second session of the Leverage program, participants left the 2-days feeling equipped with a powerful combination of financial expertise and enhanced interpersonal skills - ready to write their next 90-day plans!

Keep an eye out for further updates as they reconvene in November 2023.
