2023 delivers pitches from two cohorts of HATCH startups

The second cohort of New England North West startups to complete the UNE SMART Region Incubator (UNE SRI) HATCH 2023 program delivered confident pitches at their finale event at NOVA on 21 November.

“It was exciting to see this engaged and motivated group of people complete the HATCH program and pitch their businesses,” said Cherene Spendelove, UNE SRI Regional Connector in Armidale.

“And what a diverse range of businesses ready to take next steps in our region!”

HATCH is UNE SRI’s free program, providing tailored support and knowledge to grow a brilliant idea into a viable start-up business. Over a 6-workshop program, HATCH 2023 participants used Lean Canvas principles to move through ideation to commercialisation and gained confidence to get their business off and running.

The program is facilitated by Crystal McGregor, a regionally based entrepreneur with a love of innovation and humans. Crystal is the Program Lead for Tech Ready Women, as well as a mentor, advisor and non-executive Director for multiple startups.

“Cohort 1, which met alongside a second group of startups connected to Ignite Small Business StartUps, completed the program in June and set the benchmark with their impressive pitches,” Ms Spendelove said.

“This second cohort has certainly equalled their efforts. I am excited to see what’s next!

This event is proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund and delivered in association with Armidale Regional Council.
